What is a UK company number?
A Company Registration Number (CRN) is the unique 8-character identifier assigned by Companies House when a UK company is incorporated. It appears on the certificate of incorporation and on every subsequent filing. English and Welsh companies start with two digits, Scottish companies with SC, and Northern Irish companies with NI.
Why look it up?
You need the CRN to invoice a limited company correctly, run KYC or AML checks, verify a supplier, complete a bank onboarding form, or open a business account. It is also the fastest way to make sure you are dealing with the right entity when several companies share a similar trading name.
