Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CompanyCheckr.com (the "Service"), operated by [YOUR REGISTERED COMPANY NAME LTD] ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales with registered office at [YOUR REGISTERED ADDRESS]. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
CompanyCheckr.com provides UK company verification by querying the public Companies House register, augmenting that data with AI-generated insights and web-sourced news. We are an independent service and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Companies House or the UK Government.
2. Accuracy and reliance
Companies House data is published by HM Government and may contain errors, delays, or outdated information. AI-generated insights and news summaries are produced automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. The Service is provided for general due-diligence and informational purposes only. It is not legal, financial, credit, or investment advice. You must independently verify any information that you rely on for material decisions.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, defame, or unlawfully profile any individual.
- Re-distribute, resell, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service outside what is permitted by your subscription plan.
- Circumvent quotas, rate limits, or technical controls.
- Use the Service for any purpose contrary to UK law, including the Data Protection Act 2018 or the UK GDPR.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure.
5. Subscriptions, billing and refunds
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel future renewals at any time from your billing settings; cancellations take effect at the end of the current paid period and you retain access until then. All prices are quoted in the currency shown at checkout and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never store full card details.
Consumer cancellation right: if you are a UK consumer (not a business), you have 14 days from purchase to cancel for a full refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, unless you have begun using paid features during that period and expressly agreed to start immediately, in which case the right to refund is waived in respect of services already supplied.
We may change subscription pricing on notice; any change applies from your next renewal.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, branding, and code, is owned by us. You retain ownership of data and notes you upload. Search results and Companies House extracts remain subject to Crown copyright and the terms under which Companies House publishes them.
7. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not warrant the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend the Service for maintenance, security, or to comply with a legal request.
8. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Subject to that:
- The Service is provided "as is". We exclude all implied warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or pure economic loss, loss of profits, business, contracts, or anticipated savings.
- Our total aggregate liability arising under or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in that period, or (b) £100.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately for material breach of these Terms or for unlawful use of the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, save that, if you are a UK consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
