How do I get an account?

Yes — the Free plan gives you 15 company checks, 5 news fetches and bulk CSV uploads up to 5 rows every month, with no card required.

How do quotas reset?

Monthly quotas reset on the 1st of each calendar month at 00:00 UTC. Unused checks do not roll over.

What happens if I upgrade or downgrade?

Plan changes take effect immediately. Stripe automatically prorates the difference — you're billed only for the time you used the previous plan.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancellation keeps your plan active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your account drops back to the Free plan. Your history and saved data remain accessible.

Where do I see invoices?

Sign in and visit Billing — you'll find your current plan, next billing date, remaining quota and a full invoice history with downloadable PDF receipts.

Where does the data come from?

Company status, officers, PSCs, charges and filings are pulled live from the official UK public register on every search. Sanctions and PEP screening checks international watchlists and sanctions regimes. News is aggregated from multiple trusted web sources with publish dates and inline citations.

How fresh is the data?

Companies House data is fetched live on every search — so it's always current. News is cached for 6 hours so repeat lookups for the same company are free and instant.

What is the risk score?

A transparent 0–100 score blending company age, current status, outstanding charges, insolvency history, sanctions hits, address red flags and phoenix patterns. Higher scores mean higher risk. The score is explainable — every contributing signal is shown in the report.

What is phoenix-director detection?

We trace each director's appointment history to flag prior involvement in companies that were dissolved or entered insolvency shortly after they were appointed — a classic 'phoenix' pattern where a failing company is reborn under a new name.

Not yet. CompanyCheckr currently focuses on UK-registered entities through Companies House. EU and US coverage is on the roadmap.

Who can see my searches?

Only you and your workspace admin. Search history is private to your account. We never sell or share search data with third parties.

How is my data stored?

All data is stored in encrypted databases on EU infrastructure. Account passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms — we never see them in plain text.

Do you comply with GDPR?

Yes. We are a UK/EU-based service, comply with UK GDPR, and provide data-export and account-deletion on request.

Can I delete my account?

Yes — contact us from the Contact page and we'll permanently delete your account and associated data within 30 days.

How do I invite team members?

Super-admins can create users directly from the Admin area inside the app. Each user gets their own login and a per-user monthly quota.

Can I set different quotas per user?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Workspace admins can override the default monthly limit per user and per fetch type (Companies House check, Firecrawl, Perplexity, Tavily news).

What's a super-user vs a member?

Accepted Answer

Members can run searches and use the workspace. Super-users can additionally manage users, set quotas, configure branding, manage blog posts, change site-wide settings and review contact form submissions.

How do bulk CSV uploads work?

Drop or paste a CSV/XLSX file containing company numbers or names. We run all of them in one job and return a clean status report you can download. Plan limits apply (Free 5, Essential 25, Professional 200 rows).
