Where our data comes from
Every finding in a CompanyCheckr report is traceable to a public source. Here are the categories of data we use and how we cite them.
UK company registry (Companies House)
Live company data — status, incorporation date, registered office, filing history, officers, PSCs and outstanding charges — is pulled directly from the UK's official registry on every search. It's the authoritative record for every registered UK company.
Global sanctions & PEP watchlists
Officer and company names are screened against global sanctions regimes (UK OFSI, EU, OFAC, UN) and politically-exposed-person lists. Matches include the underlying dataset and date, so you can verify before acting.
Web & social presence
For richer context we identify a company's likely trading domain and public social presence. This helps distinguish shells from genuinely trading businesses and surfaces Trustpilot and review-site signals where available.
Reputable news providers
Recent news is aggregated from major English-language news providers. Every article shown carries the publisher name, publish date and a direct link — no anonymous summaries, no fabricated citations.
How we cite findings
Every adverse-media snippet, watchlist match and registry fact in a report links back to the original source with a publish or effective date. If a source can't be verified, we don't show it — we'd rather return "no signals found" than a fabricated match.
